The 3DEXPERIENCE platform replaces the stack of servers, add-ins and file shares that a growing engineering company accumulates. Users are given roles — a design role, a data-management role, a simulation role, a project role — and sign in from a browser. SOLIDWORKS desktop connects to the platform for storage, revisions and collaboration; browser apps such as xDesign and xShape run with no installation on any device. Data is one controlled copy, encrypted and backed up by Dassault Systèmes, with releases and change actions governed by workflow. For a company that wants PLM without a PLM project, this is the route.

Concile delivers 3DEXPERIENCE exclusively on the cloud. We have configured tenants for education ministries, machinery OEMs and engineering consultancies, and we run the platform for customers who would rather not.

Questions we get asked most
Is our data safe on the cloud?
The platform is operated by Dassault Systèmes in ISO 27001-certified data centres with encryption at rest and in transit; access is controlled by your administrator per user and per content. Details are published in the 3DS Trust Center. Several of our customers are in regulated sectors.
Does SOLIDWORKS run in the browser?
SOLIDWORKS desktop still installs on a Windows PC, but on a 3DEXPERIENCE licence it is deployed and updated from the platform. xDesign and the other browser roles run fully in the browser on any device.
Can we keep our existing SOLIDWORKS licences?
Yes. Device licences gain Cloud Services and connect to the platform through Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS. You can mix desktop and cloud licences in one tenant.
Is this PLM?
It is PLM delivered as subscriptions: lifecycle states, change actions, release management, BOMs and project planning are platform roles. The difference from a classic PLM project is that there is no server, no customisation code and no six-month implementation.
What does it cost compared with desktop plus PDM?
A cloud CAD role plus data management is usually comparable to or below a perpetual seat plus PDM Professional over three years, with no server, IT or upgrade cost. We quote both side by side.
What happens if the internet goes down?
SOLIDWORKS desktop keeps working offline and syncs when the connection returns; the 2026 release handles unplanned disconnection automatically. Browser roles need a connection.
Can Concile administer the tenant for us?
Yes. Many customers prefer a managed service: we handle users, roles, workflows, releases and support under a monthly contract.
